Alberta Pulse

Graveside Rites for Alberta Pulse, 93, of Ekalaka, Montana are pending with the Stevenson Funeral Home of Ekalaka.

Alberta Pulse passed away on the 3rd of August, 2020. She was 93 years old.

Stepping back and looking at her life, we are so glad that she LIVED it and appreciated the gift from God that it was.

Alberta was the daughter of Bert and Myrtle (Johnston) Yates. From a little girl living in a sheep wagon in Ridgeway, MT to Homecoming Queen at CCHS in Ekalaka, MT to a war bride in San Francisco, CA, her life was off to a story book beginning. She earned a degree in cosmetology and opened her beauty shop in 1954. She served the Ekalaka community for 50 years as Alberta the hair dresser, and for a number of years as Albie the clown at the Days of '85 parade in Ekalaka.

Alberta was devoted to her family, and as a single mom, raised two sons-Robert and Lon-- seeing them through graduate degrees (Bob BS, MS, PhD; Lon BS, MS) and beyond. She was blessed with two grandchildren-Lisa and Cody. In these days of advanced mobility and ease of communication, Alberta made every effort to hold her family close as they grew up and moved around.

Throughout her life, travel opportunities and adventures presented themselves to Alberta. She did not shy away. She visited at least 45 of the US states, and 34 countries around the world. She loved cruising, and went on 26 cruises. She always wanted to stick her toe in the water wherever the ship docked. On the ships, she was at times like a little kid enjoying the steel drum bands with an ice cream cone in each hand. On formal nights, she would dress to the nines, and dine and dance into the evening.

There were many of life's bumps along the way to be sure, but Alberta had accepted Christ as her Savior and with that support and comfort bounced back to appreciate each moment of life.

She was a fighter, and we are so thankful that she did LIVE her life because the final fight she couldn't win. In 2011, Alzheimer's began to take its toll. Memories that should have enriched her Senior years, and been shared with her friends and family slipped away. But, they were appreciated and cherished at the time and in the moment. She LIVED, and she loved and knew love to the end.

Alberta is survived by her sons-Robert (Bob) Pulse, Jr. of Decatur, TX and Lon Pulse of Palm Springs, CA..; her grandchildren-Lisa (Pulse) Bailey of Ft. Gibson, OK. and Cody Pulse of Austin, TX.; her brother Richard Yates of Hammond, Mt.; and her sister Phyllis (Yates) Townsend of Ekalaka, MT. We would like to thank all of Alberta's friends and family for the part they played in her Life's journey.
