The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust continued its investment in and commitment to rural healthcare in the Pacific Northwest with a recent grant of $142,500 to Dahl Memorial Healthcare. The grant will help purchase equipment for the emergency room in the new facility.
"We are immensely grateful to organizations like Dahl Memorial Healthcare that work to deliver top-quality healthcare to individuals and families living in rural communities throughout Montana and across the Pacific Northwest. Their commitment to evaluate and implement emerging technologies and treatment options literally saves lives and strengthens the fabric of our region," said Steve Moore, executive director, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. "The new emergency department is a much-needed addition to Ekalaka and the surrounding community. We are glad to have the opportunity to continue our support for the critical work of Dahl Memorial Healthcare and other rural health providers."
The grant to Dahl reflects Murdock Trust's continued investment in the Pacific Northwest, having donated more than $1 billion to nonprofits that serve the Pacific Northwest since 1975. Funds from the Murdock Trust will help Dahl purchase an x-ray machine, telemetry machine, and lab analyzer.
The new facility includes a new, larger emergency department, a physical therapy clinic, a pharmacy, and 25 individual hospital rooms in addition to other improvements. Four of the rooms will serve hospital patients and 21 will be used for nursing home residents.
"We're grateful to the Murdock Trust for this grant to help us buy medical equipment to help patients in a very rural part of the state where our services are critical," said Dahl CEO Ryan Tooke.
Since 2009, the Murdock Trust has awarded 259 grants totaling $41 million to Montana.
