CCHS defeats Jordan, suffers loss at Wibaux

The Lady Bulldogs JV squad suffered a thirty point loss to Jordan at home last Friday. The team is young, and inexperience showed as they finished with twice as many turnovers (31) as points (15). Kendall Kittelmann led the way offensively with five points.

The varsity girls were down three seniors against Jordan; sisters Hannah and Heather LaBree were out of town and Whitney Kittelmann is out with an injury. The girls battled back from an early deficit with a big third quarter en route to a 9 point win.

A balanced offensive attack saw nine Bulldogs score in the contest. As a team, CCHS shot 15-28 (54 percent) on free throws, 12-45 (27 percent) on two-point field goals and 4-17 (24 percent) on threes. They out-rebounded Jordan 33-25 and had five fewer turnovers. Ella Owen led the way with 13 points. Codi Melton finished with 8 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs played Wibaux without those same three seniors the next night. The girls had a 3 point lead at halftime but were outscored by 7 in the third and 3 in the fourth. CCHS attempted only 13 free throws while the Longhorns shot 22. As a team, Blue shot 36 percent from the field and 21 percent (4-19) from deep. Freshman Tyra O'Connor went 5 of 13 from the field and finished with 12 points. Kari Kittelmann had a team-high 14 for the Dogs. Codi Melton and Ella Owen both finished the game with double-digit rebounds as CCHS out-rebounded Wibaux 34-25.
