Bulldogs off to good start

Bridger rallied late, outscoring the Bulldogs 14-10 in the fourth quarter, to hand them a loss in their season opener at Lavina on December 13. CCHS hit 5 three-pointers and shot 11-15 from the chairty stripe in the contest. They had a five point lead at the half.

In a game on December 14 in Lavina, Broadview/Lavina JV beat CCHS JV 28-25. Six Dogs scored in the contest. The team only shot 32 percent on free throws.

In varsity action on the same day, CCHS took down Winnett/Grass Range by 9 points. Mick O'Connor had a game-high 18 points to lead the Dogs. They shot 6-14 from the charity stripe. The Dogs were held scoreless in the third quarter.

The JV boys struggled against Class B Baker on Tuesday night at home. They were outscored 2-18 in the first quarter and went on to lose by 27. Jaden Pardee scored 11 of the Dogs' 19 points. Garrett Lesh had 10 for the Spartans.

The varsity Bulldogs squeaked out a win in a physical contest against the Spartans. Tuner Tooke scored the first 3 points for Blue, but foul trouble kept him on the bench for much of the contest. He fouled out of the contest late and ended the game with three points. Baker's zone defense gave CCHS problem's on the offensive end, but a few adjustments and some strong plays from Mick O'Connor in the fourth quarter were just enough for Blue to get a five point win. As a team, CCHS shot only 10-18 on free throws, but 6 of those makes were in the fourth quarter when they needed them most. Six Bulldogs scored in the contest. Mick O'Connor led the way with 23 points. Riley O'Donnell had 17 for Baker.
