October temperatures well below norm

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Dahl Memorial Healthcare facility was held on September 6. Since then, Ekalaka has received 5.34 inches of moisture, and several inches of snow. The majority of that snow came on October 10, when 5 inches fell.

So far this October, twenty days have seen temperatures below freezing. The coldest of those days was on Tuesday, when the low reached 7 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, the high temperature from Sunday through Tuesday in Ekalaka was 27 degrees.

As of Wednesday morning, the average temperature for October, 2019 was 38.6 degrees, over 7 degrees below normal.

All of that cold weather and moisture has made working conditions more difficult on the new hospital, which was originally scheduled to be completed by Summer 2020. That initial date was given after the $15.1 million dollar bond to complete the new facility passed in the November 2018 election.
