Rest Time
Hello God, it’s me, Mara:
You know, Lord, sometimes when we’re just plain tired out, we might think: ‘Rest time?” What is that? How is that going to happen when there are still so many chores waiting to get done? A friend reminded us that we need to take time out for ourselves, to take care of ourselves, that we need to back up a bit and let You, Lord, refresh us.
Another friend told about an interesting thing that she’d heard, which is/was called FOB. Like, what is that? She smiled as she told us that at her house, this was making time to put your ‘Feet On Bed’. We chuckled as she added that what one is to do, old or young, is to put their feet on their bed for a little while, which also means there is NO getting up, no wandering around, and no asking for things! One doesn’t necessarily have to take a nap, but they need to allow us to have some quiet time, no less than 20 minutes; be we caregivers or parents.
While FOB is happening, ‘we’ can also put our feet up; maybe have a cup of tea, enjoy some music, read Your Word, Lord, refocus, relax, rest, regroup; it makes our whole day seem brighter.
One of the other gals shared that when she was a little girl and got to go visit her grandparents, she remembered that when Grandma had HAD it, Grandma would go to her favorite chair and cover her face with her apron, which meant to all, that she was not to be disturbed. Several of us nodded our heads as we also remembered someone in our past, who had done the same thing! More chuckles. Hebrews 4:10: “For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.”
Thank You, Lord, that we can rest in You.
Love, Mara
