MILES CITY – Montana Attorney General Tim Fox presented the 2019 Matt Dale Outstanding Advocate of the Year Award at a ceremony in Miles City today. The recipient, a family law attorney in private practice, was honored at a celebration held at the Miles City Courthouse.
Colleagues nominated Rennie Wittman for her advocacy on behalf of parents and children who are victims of domestic abuse, child abuse, and neglect. In addition to her private practice, Ms. Wittman assists Dawson County Domestic Violence and Eastern Montana CASA GAL, Inc. with parenting plans, restraining orders, divorce paper work, and preparations to testify in court. These organizations coordinate to help victims in the 7th, 16th, and 17th Judicial Districts.
“Rennie has chosen to assist those most in need in the criminal justice system – the victims of crime,” Attorney General Tim Fox said. “Despite the logistical challenges of serving a twelve-county area in Eastern Montana, Rennie ensures victims are treated with dignity and respect, and that they receive needed support services while navigating the legal system. She not only protects crime survivors and their families, but also works to hold offenders accountable,” Fox added.
Last week, Attorney General Fox also presented the award to Montana National Guard Colonel Beverly Schneider of Helena. Later this week, Fox will present the remaining 2019 award to an honoree in Red Lodge.
