Wacky holidays

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, it is entertaining and amusing to look up bizarre and unique holidays. July does have some interesting ones. For instance, last week was Peach Ice Cream Day. Not everyone has tried that flavor, right, Sister Sal? Oh, maybe you and yours have, tee hee – since you live in a big city.

This week we have a Cousin’s Day on the 24th - so Happy Day, Cousins! That day is also ‘Tell an Old Joke Day’; we probably all KNOW a few old jokes.

Coming up the 25th is ‘Threading the Needle Day’. We were pretty young, way back then, when our Mama taught us girls how to do that!

Another fun day is coming up: ‘Aunt and Uncle Day’ is the 26th!

We also have a day planned for the 27th, that is celebrated every year on the fourth Saturday in July, and that is ‘National Day of the Cowboy’. Woo Hoo!!

The fourth Sunday in July is ‘Parent’s Day’, so we shouldn’t forget that one.

Notice that the 29th is an interesting day, at least it might be for our tummies, it’s National Chicken Wing Day and National Lasagna Day! So – beware; eating places, here we come! Yum - Yum! The 30 is National Cheesecake Day. There are some delicious recipes out there for sure! If one is inclined to celebrate some interesting days, another day not to forget would be Father-in-Law-Day on the 30th. Some of us could make that a special day to celebrate also.

Pet lovers, did you know that the 31st is Mutts Day? We know folks who have delightful pets/Mutts, so there is your chance, folks, to have fun with your special Mutt.

With wacky holidays, we can have some joy. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

Love, Mara
