160 members attend SEEC meeting

Southeast Electric Cooperative held an annual meeting last Friday. After several year's of holding the meeting at Carter County High School, employees decided to try something new this year and instead held the meeting at the truck shop behind the cooperative building.

Last year, 231 people were served at the meeting. This year 264 total guests, including 160 members, were served.

CCHS FCCLA helped to serve the meal and Southeast lineman grilled hamburgers and brauts. The family style barbecue was ultimately a large success as numbers and enthusiasm were up from prior years.

In addition to the free meal, attendees received LED light bulbs and scissors for attending. They also enjoyed local music prior to the business meeting. Several who attended were lucky enough to win one of several donated door prizes, and two received $500 cash grand prizes.

As of December 31, 2018, the cooperative had $19,938,966 in assets and $19,938,966 in liabilities. It had $7,159,994 in revenue and $5,767,685 in expenses for a net margin of $1,392,309 in 2018. The net margin in 2017 was $855,725. Eighteen more consumers were billed in 2018 than 2017. Members of the cooperative used an average of 1169 KWH in 2018 compared to 1126 in 2017. Southeast Electric purchased 58,225,594 KWH in 2018.

Doug Gardner, District 2, and Dave Hayden, District 8, were both reelected to the Board of Directors.
