Food for thought

Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know, Lord, here’s a cute one on Love and Marriage – as it seems that June is sometimes THE month couples pick to marry, right? So – here’s’ some ’Food for Thought’! Man: How much is this sparkling diamond? Jeweler: That one is $1,000.00. Man: (Whistles) And this one? Jeweler: that one is two whistles.

Our June calendar is filled with birthdays and anniversaries of family, friends and loved ones. As we think about dear ones, how about some ‘gardening thoughts’, which was a poem written for a Valentine Sweetheart – but so cute, and since it is gardening season, how about taking a ‘locus’ (look-see) at it as we share. Here goes:

You know, cabbage always has a heart and green beans string along, you know you’re a cute tomato; will you peas to me belong?

You’ve been the apple of my eye and you know how much I care, so lettuce get together – we’re friends, a perfect pear.

Now, something’s bound to turnip to prove you can’t be beet; so, if you carrot at all for me, let’s let our tulips meet.

Now don’t squash my hopes and dreams, bee my honey, dear; or tears will fill potato’s eyes while sweet corn lends an ear.

I’ll cauliflower shop, and say, your dreams are parsley mine, I’ll work and share my celery, - So be my Valentine.

Along a different line, while you’re out there caring for your lawn of garden, oops! Did you notice? It’s mosquito season! Here’s a helpful hint: to get rid of the itch from those bites, try applying soap on the area and you will experience instant relief! It works!

Thank You, Lord for ‘food’ from gardens. We read about Your garden, Lord, in Job 8:16: “He thrives before the sun, And his shoots spread out over his garden.”

Love, Mara
