Mid-Rivers awards scholarships to area students

Mid-Rivers Communications is proud to announce the recipients of 26 Scholarships to students from the Cooperative’s service area. Six $1,500 scholarships were awarded to students planning to attend either Dawson Community College or Miles Community College, and 20 $1,000 scholarships were awarded to students planning to attend a four-year college or university, community college or tech school in the fall of 2019.

A $1,500 Dawson Community College/Miles Community College Scholarship has been awarded to the following recipients:

• Clay Prell, Miles City – Miles Community College – Plans to attend MCC to complete his general studies and welding classes.

• Dylan Yerbich, Circle – Miles Community College – Will attend MCC to earn his Associates of Applied Science in Automotive Technology.

• Haley Olson, Richey – Dawson Community College – Will work towards earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing after graduation from high school.

• Kaden Stradley, Miles City – Miles Community College – Plans to earn an Associates in Business before returning to help operate his family business.

• Logan Phipps, Glendive – Dawson Community College – Will attend DCC to complete the Corrosion Technology program.

• Rebecca Stein, Miles City – Miles Community College – Plans to return to college to pursue a certificate in both Sales & Marketing and Accounting.

A $1,000 Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship has been awarded to the following recipients:

• Abby Hill, Glendive – Plans to pursue a doctorate in Physical Therapy after graduating from the Exercise science program at University of Mary.

• Amber Taylor, Miles City – Will attend Concordia to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

• Ashlyn Marum, Miles City – Plans to attend Montana State University to work on generals and foreign language classes.

• Auriel Krumwiede, Lewistown – Will pursue a Business Administration degree at Carroll College.

• Bret Vester, Glendive – Will continue his education at Dickinson State University and plans to earn his Bachelor’s in Accounting and Business Management.

• Brooke Franklin, Sidney – Will attend Montana State University to earn a degree in financial engineering.

• Cobe Begger, Wibaux – Plans to attend Bismarck State to work toward a degree in Farm and Ranch Management.

• David Skerritt, Glendive – Will continue his college education at Montana State University and plans to graduate with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

• Emily Axtman, Fairview – Plans to pursue a double major in Accounting and Business Management at Dickinson State University.

• Gage Murray, Miles City – Plans to earn his Associate degree in Welding at Eastern Wyoming College.

• Garrett Jones, Miles City – Plans to attend Montana State University to work towards a degree in Agricultural Business.

• Jaycie Rau, Fairview – Plans to become a Veterinarian and will work towards a Biology degree at Black Hills State University.

• Kylee Byer, Sidney – Plans to attend Dickinson State University and double-major in Accounting and Business Administration.

• Kyler Brown, Richey – Will attend Montana State University-Northern to pursue a two-year degree in Agricultural Operations.

• Kyra Oakland, Miles City – Plans to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a financial advisor by attending Rocky Mountain College and working toward a Finance degree.

• Luke Hill, Glendive – Plans to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Mary.

• Maci Moore, Miles City – Will attend Montana State University to work towards a degree in Animal Science or Education with a minor in Spanish.

• Nathan Zard, Melstone – Will attend Montana Tech to complete a Mechanical Engineering Degree.

• Timothy Wright, Circle – Plans to attend North Dakota State College of Science to become a certified Diesel Technician.

• Tristan Hirsch, Miles City – Will attend Dickinson State University to work toward an Accounting/Finance degree.

Mid-Rivers will also award twelve (12) $500 scholarships to area students through a drawing at the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting on May 30, 2019, at the High School in Circle, MT. To qualify for the scholarship drawing, the student must:

• attend the Annual Meeting with a parent or guardian who is a Cooperative Member with active local telephone or Internet service from Mid-Rivers,

• be enrolled to attend a higher education institution in the fall of 2019,

• provide PROOF of full-time enrollment at the Annual Meeting,

• sign up at the Scholarship Registration table at the Annual Meeting,

• participate in simple interactive tasks that will be assigned at the Annual Meeting, and

• be present during the Business Meeting when the drawing takes place.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and close at the start of the Business Meeting at 1 p.m. Previous Mid-Rivers scholarship winners are not eligible for the scholarship drawing. Students unsure of their parent/guardian’s membership status with the Cooperative should call Mid-Rivers prior to the Annual Meeting for verification.

In addition, a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for area residents of any age interested in completing a CiscoTM technical certification is also still available.
