Vern passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.

Vernard Eldon Schell was born October 13, 1930 south of Plevna, MT, the son of Jacob and Emma (Herberle) Schell. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school nearby through the seventh grade. After finishing his education in Plevna, Vern stayed on the farm, assisting with the day to day operations. In 1952, Vern and LaVerne Stoltenberg were united in marriage in Baker. To this union two sons were born: Jerry and Keith; and were his pride and joy. Together, Vern and LaVerne worked and raised their family on their farm west of Plevna on Westmore Road. He loved everything about the farm and proudly worked every day until his retirement in 2015 when the couple moved to Baker.

Farming was everything to Vern and enjoyed combining at harvest time. He was dedicated to the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church; serving on various committees as well as an honorary deacon for many years. Vern was a member of Farmers Elevator Board in Plevna and Fallon Medical Complex for six years.

Vern is survived by his wife, LaVerne; sons, Jerry (Bev) Schell and Keith (Deb) Schell; grandchildren, Missy (Bobby) Thielen, Amber (Mark) Lawlar, and Jasmine, Zachery and Andrew Hall; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Wyatt, and Wiley Thielen, and Sydnee and Kenzie Lawlar; brother, Melvin (Judy) Schell; nephew, Tim (Nancy) Jensen; nieces, Lynne Nielson, Carol (Roy) Elhard; and special great nephew, Jason Stuart (Missionary in Papua New Guinea).

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Betty (Einar) Tronstad and Lily (Louis) Jensen.
