Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association’s Annual Health Fair blood draw is scheduled for April 16, 17 and 18, from 6 to 10 a.m. at the Carter County Events Center. The cost for the basic blood draw panel is $35. Men can have a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) checked for an additional $25. Hemoglobin A1C (diabetes) tests will be available again this year for $20. Vitamin D3 tests area available for an additional $30. As always, payment is due at the time of service.
Please take morning medications and drink at least eight ounces of water before coming to the blood draw. Also, drink plenty of water the day before! However, don’t eat or drink anything other than water for six hours prior to the blood draw, as this will adversely affect lab results.
The basic blood draw panel includes a Complete Blood Count, Cholesterol Profile, Liver Function Test, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Chemistry Panel, Uric Acid, and more; all at a fraction of the cost if done elsewhere. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
The health fair review will be held on May 1 at the Carter County Events Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Individuals will be able to pick up lab results there. The local FCCLA chapter will have a light dinner available at that time. There will be vendors in attendance from around the region. Carla Dowdy PA-C will give a presentation at 6 p.m. on the lab information. Then, Michelle Mehling CLS, PharmD will give a presentation on over-the-counter medications and interactions with prescription medications.
