Lady Blue splits weekend games

The Lady Bulldogs had little trouble taking down Northern Cheyenne at home last Friday. The girls put up 30 in the first quarter and eventually won by 54. They forced 36 turnovers while only committing 9 and out-rebounded their opponent 34-16. As a team, they went 63 percent on free throws and 48 percent from the field. Claire Callahan led all scorers with 18 points. Ten Bulldogs scored.

In JV action at Wibaux on Saturday, the girls pulled off a 36-17 victory. They shot 7-20 from the free throw line. Kenzie Tooke led the way on offense with 11.

The varsity girls game in Wibaux was a closer contest. The girls got down by nine points early on and could never quite make up the deficit. They shot only 43 percent on free throws, 44 percent on two-point field goals, and 13 percent (3-23) from downtown. They did out-rebound the Longhorns and had 11 fewer turnovers, but could not overcome a bad night shooting the rock, eventually losing by 4. Hannah LaBree led CCHS in points with 17; Claire Callahan led in rebounds with 7.
