Spray days near

Fallon and Carter County Annual Spray Day’s will be held on February 20 and 21 this year. This program is a collaboration of efforts between Extension and weed departments in both Fallon and Carter County. Organizers have put together a great set of speakers and hope interested persons can join them .

The program will be in Ekalaka on February 20 at Carter County Events Center from 10 a.m. until 2p.m. Lunch will be provided by the Carter County Weed Board. Then, on February 21, the program will be held in Baker at the Fallon County Exhibit Hall from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided by the Fallon County Weed Board.

Trent Brusseau, Corteva Agrisciences, will discuss various weeds that plague eastern Montana rangelands and the various management options to help decrease the dependency on herbicide use while still getting effective weed control. In turn, he will talk about how weed management and its various techniques can be a player in increasing healthy range.

Rory Lewis, Helena Agri-Enterprises LLC, will discuss herbicide applications partnered with liquid fertilizer treatment and their benefits. He will also cover tank mixing issues that can be seen with herbicide and fertilizer mixes, as well as what chemistries can tank-mix together.

Clint Saunders, Nutrient Ag Solutions, will discuss adverse effects of poor water quality, environmental considerations, and other negative issue when trying to maximize the performance of herbicides. The use of adjuvants may alter the effects of these issues to create a successful weed control program.

Lyle Scott, Montana Department of Ag, will be speaking about worker protection standards, some of the new rule changes, timeliness and how to comply. He will also be speaking about record keeping and future compliance.
