The CCHS Lady Bulldogs finished their volleyball season in third place at the Eastern C Divisional Tournament in Sidney last weekend. First, the Dogs defeated North Country in three straight sets on Thursday morning, 25-9, 25-11 and 25-16. Tori Tooke led the team in aces with 9, Whitney Kittelmann led in assists with 12, and Claire Callahan led in blocks with 2. Callahan also shared the team lead in kills (9) with Hannah LaBree. Gracie Tooke and Heather LaBree tied for the lead in digs with 9.
That afternoon CCHS took on Plentywood and won in four sets, 25-16, 13-25, 25-22, 25-23. Callahan had a team high in aces (3 of 4), kills (13 of 41) and blocks (4 of 4). Tori Tooke had 18 of the team’s 71 digs and Whitney Kittelmann had 17 of 32 assists.
On Friday night the girls played Scobey in a semifinal match. The team’s traded sets until game 5 when Scobey edged out CCHS, 11-15. Game scores were: 25-15, 17-25, 25-20, 17-25, 11-15. Tori Tooke tallied 4 of the team’s 7 aces, Callahan had 18 of 48 kills and 7 of 10 blocks. Whitney Kittelmann led in assists (24 of 44) and tied with Heather LaBree for the lead in digs (18 of 86).
The loss sent Blue to the third place game on Saturday morning against Plentywood, a team they had beaten Thursday night in four sets. Again the match came down to a fifth set and CCHS lost a tight battle, 12-15. Game scores were: 25-13, 9-25, 25-21, 18-25, 12-15. Tori Tooke had 3 of the team’s 9 aces. Callahan led in kills (11 of 28) and blocks (5 of 7). Hannah LaBree led in digs (15 of 43) and Whitney Kittelmann led in assists (11 of 21).
Plentywood and Scobey advanced and will play in the Class C State Volleyball Tournament in Bozeman this weekend.
