Full weekend for Pups

Last weekend the Ekalaka junior high girls won all four basketball games they played. On Friday in Jordan, Ekalaka B held Jordan B to six total points and a scoreless fourth quarter. Nasya O’Connor led all scorers with 17, 7 of those came in the second quarter.

Ekalaka A beat Jordan A by 10 points. They took an early lead after the first quarter 12-2, and never let that lead diminish as they went on to win by the same margin. Seven Pups players scored in the contest, led by Tyra O’Connor with 11.

On Saturday at home, Ekalaka B defeated Melstone B, 31-14. The Pups again played tight defense. They went 3-8 from the free throw line.

Ekalaka A beat Melstone A, 43-28. They only shot 2-12 from the free throw line. Again, seven players made their way into the scoring column.

Ekalaka junior high boys also played four games this weekend. Both A games were tight contests.

In Jordan, Ekalaka B fell to Jordan B, 12-17. The Pups were held without a basket in the first half. Wyatt Melton led the Pups with 4 points. He also fouled out of the contest.

Ekalaka A had a ten point lead at halftime of their game, but three starters sat on the bench for a large portion of the second half with four fouls. Jordan came back and scored the go ahead bucket with seconds remaining and won the game. Tucker Tooke led all scorers with 17, despite his foul trouble.

Against Melstone at home, Ekalaka B lost 14-37. Wyatt Melton again led the game offensively for the Pups.

Ekalaka A had a seven point lead at halftime and a three point lead at the end of the third, but were unable to finish with a win. Foul trouble again played a factor for the Pups; JW Elmore fouled out and two other Pups players finished the game with four fouls. Jaden Pardee led the Pups offensively with 17 points. Bryce Grebe of Melstone led all scorers with 22.
