The Carter County Conservation District, along with the local NRCS office, hosted a fun, educational event focusing on women in agriculture.
The range tour started at the Fix Farm on Beaver Flats. There, Robbie Fix talked about the effort it requires to grow a successful shelterbelt. The women then headed to the Castleberry Ranch to focus on weed management and plant identification.
To tie everything together, the Little Beaver Conservation District traveled down from Baker and presented their rainfall simulator, capitalizing on how soil health is impacted by different management systems. To end the evening, the Castleberry crew put together an amazing meal. Upon conclusion of the tour, the conservation district sincerely thanked the Fix and Castleberry families for continuing to promote conservation education in Carter County, as well as all of the ladies in attendance.
