Netters have busy weekend

Last Thursday at home, CCHS Volleyball took on Broadus. The Bulldogs took down the Hawks in three quick sets (25-16, 25-11, 25-18) to win the match. Hannah LaBree led the team in aces. Tori Tooke led the team in kills with 12 of the team's 32 total, Claire Callahan led in blocks with 2 of 3, and Whitney Kittelmann led with 17 of 28 assists. Four players tied for a team high 3 digs.

On Friday, the girls traveled to Circle to take on the Wildcats. In an early JV game, CCHS lost in four sets. After struggling in the first set, 9-25, Blue came back strong, narrowly losing the second set, 23-25. The girls took the third set, 15-11, before losing the fourth, 11-15.

In varsity action, CCHS handily won the first set, 25-14. In the second set, the girls seemed to have some sort of mental lapse as they were defeated 20-25. However, they recovered and easily won sets three (25-15) and four (25-18). The Bulldogs had a very impressive number of kills (44) and digs (64), but as a team they only had 3 aces. Heather LaBree led in aces with 2, Callahan led in kills with 17 and blocks with 4, Hannah LaBree led in digs with 14 and Tooke led in assists with 15.

The next night the girls traveled to Wibaux. The JV Bulldogs lost in three consecutive sets (17-25, 11-25, 5-15).

In varsity action, the Bulldogs took the Longhorns to a fifth set. After a very rough start out of the gate where the Lady Bulldogs lost 6-25, the second set was much closer, 21-25. CCHS fired back and won the next two sets 25-16 and 25-23. In the final set, Wibaux out-dueled CCHS 5-15 behind solid serving from Layni Schieffer. Callahan again led the team in kills (12) and blocks (4). Hannah LaBree had a team high 17 of 71 digs and Tooke had 11 of 22 team assists. Three Lady Bulldogs had two aces each.

This weekend there are games scheduled against NCTS at home on Friday. On Saturday, the girls will play in a tournament at Scobey.
