The Ekalaka Junior High Pups kicked off football in Ekalaka last Friday afternoon when they took on Froid/Medicine Lake. The game was close and low scoring in the first half, 6-6.
In the second half, Blue was unable to find the end zone, eventually losing 6-27. The Pups were able to get some yards threw the air as eighth graders Tucker Tooke and Sean Wolenetz combined to complete a total of four passes. Tooke was the only Pup to find the end zone. He scored on a 23 yard run. He also led the team in tackles with seven.
Cardell Laughery and Ethan Frye had four tackles a piece, J.W. Elmore had 3, and several other Pups players had 1.
The Pups will need to improve their run blocking before their game at home this Friday versus Richey/Lambert in order to get their first win of the season.
