Days of '85 Gospel Sing

Jon and Kati Champlin will be joined by Becky McClure to provide the entertainment for the Days of '85 Gospel Sing on Saturday, August 11, on the lawn of the Baptist Church at 8 p.m.

Champlins met in a singing missions group to Italy at Frontier School of the Bible. Jon grew up in Brazil as a missionary kid and Kati grew up in rural South Dakota. They both met Becky McClure through the music department and Italy missions trip at Frontier Bible School. Music has been a huge part of both of their lives. Kati grew up traveling to many churches, fairs and contests singing a mixture of gospel and country songs and many ball games singing the Star Spangled Banner. Jon grew up learning to sing harmonies and was given a great love of hymns and church music from his mother and grandmother. Jon is the pastor of the Ekalaka Bible Church, and he and Kati continue to sing on a regular basis. They have two children Liam, 4, and Evangeline, 1, who are carrying on their love for music.

Becky McClure grew up in Colorado and has been singing since she could make noise. She learned piano in middle school, picked up the guitar in college, and has used all three talents in performing with various groups and in leading worship in church settings since 2006.

Memories of singing with Kati, Jon and other college classmates remain a highlight of her life.

She currently resides in Alaska where her passion for music continues to be an important part of her ministry to the US military.
