Russell Alan Holloway

It is with great sadness that the family of Russell Alan Holloway announces that he passed away on April 27, 2018 at the age of 58 at the Rapid City Hospice House after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on October 20, 1959 in Rapid City. He attended Stevens High School and was proud to be a veteran of the US Army where he was trained as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

Russ had a free spirit, a sense of humor and a passion for adventure which allowed him to enjoy times spent on a motorcycle, while building relationships and lifetime friendships with extended family, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends that were touched by Russ's kindness and love. He never met a stranger that he didn't greet with a friendly smile and handshake.

He honored his last name by wearing it proudly. Cooking, might have been his passion because he often gravitated back to that as his career. Alzada, Montana won his heart and he moved there in 2002 when he fell in love with Diane Turko. They worked Diane's Bar at the Stone Ville Saloon together and enjoyed serving the many locals and the thousands of bikers that visited each year during the Sturgis Bike Rally. He loved spending time each winter in Baja, Mexico and Southern California visiting their home on the beach and Diane's family.

Russ is survived by the love of his life, Diane Turko; brothers, Jim (Iverne) Holloway, Dan (Jerri) Holloway, Don (Pam) Holloway, Frank Halloran; and sister, Sherry (Scott) Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Phyllis (Ehli) Holloway and his sister and brother in-law, Janice and Gerald Halloran.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer. Russ/Rusty/Russell has touched many lives and when we gather we will read and share any comments and stories you send to his brother, Dan at 5280 Saturn Dr., Rapid City, SD 57703 or through social media where we will stay in contact.

A special thanks to the Hospice House for their excellent care and compassion.

Friends and family may sign his online guestbook and leave written condolences for the family at blackhillsfuneralhome.com.
