Last weekend, CCHS band and choir students participated at district music festival.
The band received superior ratings (I) for performance and instrumental sight-reading. They performed “Air for Band,” composed by Frank Erickson, and “Black Tower Overture,” composed by Kevin Kaisershot.
The choir received a superior rating for their performance and an excellent (II) rating for sight-singing.
All individual and duet performances received superior ratings and will be performing at state music festival, May 4-5 in Billings. These include: Joe McHenry and Kennedy Tooke, vocal duet, “Wayfaring Stranger;” Rose Rychner, clarinet solo, “Forest Echo;” Kennedy Tooke, vocal solo, “Se i miei sospiri,” which translates roughly to Hear me, O Heavens.
Ekalaka Public Schools music teacher Andrew Del Raso has also planned a spring concert featuring high school band and choir for Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
