Lady Bulldogs advance to divisionals

As the number one seed at the District 4C Tournament, the Lady Bulldogs easily took down the Jordan mustangs in the first round. They outscored Jordan 24-4 in the first quarter. From then on, Head Coach Kayla Olsen was able to get most of her bench some valuable minutes. Every CCHS player got in the game, and nine of the eleven got their name in the scoring column. Three Bulldogs finished the game in double figures. Ellar Rucker led the team in rebounds.

After a break on Thursday, Lady Blue came back on Friday to play in a semifinal versus the Melstone Broncs. The Broncs kept the game close until the fourth quarter when CCHS outscored them 24-10. The Dogs won 47-32 and were led by Heather LaBree's 20 points. They out-rebounded the Broncs 26-20, and were plus nine on turnover differential. Tooke led CCHS in boards with 9.

In the championship game on Saturday night, the Bulldogs battled the Wibaux Longhorns. The game was close until the third quarter when Wibaux outscored CCHS 19-10. CCHS had 30 rebounds compared to 29 for Wibaux. They did commit five more turnovers 16-11, and shot far worse from the field. The Dogs went 9-36 on two-point field goals and 4-21 from deep. Wibaux, meanwhile, went 13-38 on 2's and 4-6 on 3's. It was a bad night for the Bulldogs to go cold shooting. They also didn't get to the free throw line near as much as Wibaux. CCHS was 9-12 from the charity stripe while Wibaux went 18-30. The Bulldogs eventually lost, 39-56.

Heather LaBree led the scoring for CCHS with 12 points, Hannah LaBree led in rebounding with 7.

Hopefully, the Lady Bulldogs got their bad shooting out of the way as they will be headed to the Southern C Divisional Tournament next weekend in Miles City. The girls will play Plenty Coups in their first game, set for Thursday, March 1, at 8:00 p.m.
