CCHS boys basketball had a couple tough outings against powerhouse Melstone last Thursday in Ekalaka. In a shortened half-game of JV basketball, the boys were down only five at the half. However, in the second half, the Dogs were only able to muster three points. Ty Meredith and Ty Kombol of Melstone led all scoring with eight each. Melstone went a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line in the contest, while the Bulldogs went 3-4.

The varsity Bulldogs faced an even tougher battle against Melstone. The Broncs are currently ranked third in Class C in Montana and boast a perfect 11-0 record. They showed why last Thursday. CCHS got off to a decent start against them, but by the midway point of the first quarter, Bronc coach Jason Grebe had his team settled in on defense.
After that, the Dawgs really struggled to score, mustering only 8 points in the final three quarters of basketball. Caleb Fix led the Dawgs in scoring with 6; he also fouled out of the contest. CCHS went 3-7 from the charity stripe. Three Bronc players finished the game in double figures as nine made their way into the scoring column. This Friday the boys will take on Jordan at home.
