The Lady Bulldogs played two games last weekend. On Friday at home, the girls played a close contest against the Class B Baker Spartans.
CCHS was outscored by two in the first quarter and five in the second. They kept within striking distance, but never could quite close the gap, eventually losing 37-44.
The Bulldogs did go 81% from the free throw line (13-16). They also shot better from inside the arc (12-31), then Baker (11-38). The turnover battle was even as CCHS had 20 and Baker had 19.Claire Callahan led the way for Blue with ten points and six rebounds.

Saturday’s action featured the Bulldogs and the Broncs of Melstone. CCHS came out strong early, and was up by ten at the end of the first quarter. Then, Draya Wacker of Melstone got hot, and Melstone put up 23 in the second. CCHS scored only 2. By the end of the third quarter CCHS had pulled ahead of the Broncs, 39-38. Then, their offense slowed again. They went on to lose by four.
Both teams finished the game with 19 total rebounds. CCHS had 21 turnovers, compared to 18 for Melstone. Blue shot only 26% on two-point field goals but kept the game close by going an impressive 45% (9-20) from deep. Heather LaBree and Whitney Kittelmann each had three triples. It wasn’t quite enough though, as Melstone, led by Wacker, went 9-17 from deep and shot a better percentage from inside.
Melstone also did a better job drawing fouls as they shot 18 free throws. Tori Tooke shot and made the only free throw for Blue. Claire Callahan led CCHS in rebounds with 7.
