The CCHS girls basketball team started their season last weekend at a tournament in Lavina.
Against Winnett-Grass Range, the girls were down by one going into the half, 17-18. In the third quarter, a low shooting percentage from the field led to Blue being down by eight. They were then outscored by nine in the fourth quarter. CCHS did shoot a better percentage from the free-throw line than their opponent, 63% to 33%. They also kept the turnover battle relatively even, committing 18 and forcing 15. They were out-shot 41-36, and shot only 33% on two-point field goals while Winnett shot 50%. Winnett also made four three-point shots while CCHS had only 1.
Tori Tooke and Whitney Kittelmann both finished the game with four fouls. Claire Callahan led CCHS in rebounds, with 8 of the team’s 15. Heather LaBree led CCHS in points with 8.
