Letter to the editor

Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to Del Dague’s NFL letter of September 29th.

Del Dague you were spot on about the NFL.

23 years ago I was offered a flying job here in the state of Washington; a job that I could not refuse. So, that’s when I sold my business at Ekalaka, then moved to the state of Washington where, after a while I became a Seattle Seahawk fan. Especially when once in a while they would win. I had purchased a 12th man flag and every time they played I would proudly fly it on our house.

A few of us even went to a couple games in Seattle, it was not a cheap venture. One of those times I remember, they had a special going on at the commissary. You could get a hot dog with the condiments of your choice and an 8oz soft drink of your choice all for only $20.00, plus tax. I never thought to ask what the regular price was. Maybe that’s how they are able to help pay these spoiled brats multi-million dollar contracts.

I too, was in the Military from 1957-58, U.S. Army. Of course that would have been between Korea and Vietnam so I never saw any hostility; except for one night in a skid row bar in Barstow, California when a couple Gyreens thought that they wanted our girls. We just couldn’t let that happen because, what the Hell, we had paid good money for them. Anyway, after a couple minutes of pushing and shoving, a black eye, and a bloody nose, we were told that the girls had ridden of into the sunset with a couple bikers.

By the way everybody was wearing civvies. How about that for some good times.

I think the actions of these players are so disrespectful to former Military, current Military, Law Enforcement, and to the United States in general. It’s just plain disgusting and so saddening to see this happening.

A couple weeks ago I was burning pruning branches and, you know, somehow the 12th man flag got thrown into the fire.

Sincerely,

Curtis D. Carter
