National 4-H Week

Go green for 4-H week! The week of October 1st-7th is National 4-H Week. 4-H members across the nation will be representing their state and clubs throughout the whole week.

For those who don’t know, 4-H is a youth organization that allows kids to learn life skills that can help them later in life. As part of the organization, members can take part in projects that involve various animals such as rabbits, cows, and even hamsters. Some non-animal projects that members have enrolled in are sewing, welding, leadership, and microwave cooking. It doesn’t matter if a member likes the outdoors or loves to create robots, there is a project that can relate to everyone’s interests. In order to be a member, one must be at least nine. Members can continue in the organization until the age of eighteen.

For National 4-H Week, people will be wearing green on Wednesday, Oct. 4th. Everyone who wears green is asked to take a picture and email it to falloncarter1@montana.edu. Every person who sends in their picture will be put into a drawing for a prize. Members also invite the community to show support for 4-H by decorating their yards or by sharing their 4-H stories on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using #4HTRUELEADER.

Thank you so much to all of the supporters who help all our 4-H members throughout the year! The theme for this year’s national 4-H week is “4-H Grows Leaders.”

4-H has taught me so many lessons that I don’t know if I would have learned without being part of it. Through 4-H, I have learned dependability and how to better communicate with others. For me it is fun to see all of the members grow while being part of this organization. We wouldn’t be able to do any of these learning activities without your generosity. So, thank you very much and Go Green!!
