Julia Rae (Julie) Dullum, age 89, peacefully left this world early Friday morning, July 28, 2017, after complications from a broken hip.
Julie was born in Ekalaka, Montana on October 28, 1927. She was the only child of Martha Loehding Strain and Ray Strain. She had 3 older half-brothers and a half-sister.
She graduated from Carter County High School and moved to Helena after passing the Merit system test and getting a job at Ft. Harrison. She met her future husband, Fritz Dullum, at a concert in Memorial Park and they were married on December 14, 1947. During their life together they had 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She loved cooking for her family, traveling, and music. She played trombone in high school and piano for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Also, she enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, horses, and westerns. She worked at the Employment Security Commission until retiring at age 62.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fritz Dullum, her sister Lorena Meyers Long, her brothers Vernon Meyers, Marvin Meyers and Delbert Meyers, her grandson Darrel Dullum, and her granddaughter Marissa K. Dullum Hartford.
Julie is survived by her children Jerry (Carol) Dullum, June (Loren) Jacobson, Irene (Craig) Hoyt, Carol (Alan) Lizotte and Don (Pam) Dullum.
