Mid-Rivers Communications started preparing to put fiber optic cable in Ekalaka this week. Residents may have noticed crews working in the area.
Plans call to have all the lines done in town this summer. Reportedly, the crews in Ekalaka will be able to run fiber optic cable to between about three and seven homes or businesses per day once the main lines have been laid. That number, of course, depends on how many obstacles are in their way.
Surface areas will not be affected by the installation of new line and current Mid-Rivers services will not be affected during the transition.
