Rose Marie Blake, 62, of Camp Crook, South Dakota passed away April 8, 2017 at her Aunt, Sharon Garza's home in Belle Fourche following a battle with cancer.
Rose Wise was born August 14, 1954 in Winona, Minnesota to Richard and Dorothy (Humann) Wise. As an infant, she moved with her mother, Dorothy to Belle Fourche. Rose attended Belle Fourche High School and later received her GED. Her first job at age 16 she started working at Watt's Café in Belle Fourche and through the years she worked as a waitress, cook, and bartender in various places around Belle Fourche.
Rose married Clark Blake on September 14, 1983 and lived on the ranch near Camp Crook until the time of her passing. She enjoyed cooking for the work crews at the ranch and made sure everyone was well cared for.
She battled with cancer for over 20 years and through it all she kept a positive attitude and outlook. She became very active in fund raising for the American Cancer Society. Rose created the group, The Town and Country Rugrats, which raised over one hundred thousand dollars toward cancer research. She was a past ambassador for the American Cancer Society which gave her the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC.
Her dream was to own her own bar and café and that dream came true in May of 2011 when she opened the Over the Edge Bar and Grill in Camp Crook. Rose loved to play pool and was on a pool league for over 20 years. She loved life and people! She was very creative with her crocheting and scrapbooking and loved decorating the café for holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Clark Blake of Camp Crook; siblings, Alfreda Robb of Victoria, TX, DeeAnn (Greg) Roberts of Edgemere, MD, Kenny Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD, Terry (Lori) Hanson of Sioux Falls, Gary (Jenny) Wise of Eau Claire, WI, Richard (Kim) Wise of Eau Claire, WI, Paul (Sue) Wise of Durand, WI, Jeff (Cindy) Wise of Mondovi, WI, Mike (Sue) Wise of Mondovi, WI, Brad (Cheryl) Wise of Lady Lake, FL, Brian (Neva) Wise of Lady Lake, FL and Becky (Don) Munns of Milton, WI.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Baird; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Clara Humann; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Lucille Wise and an uncle, Richard Humann.
Visitation and sharing of memories was held April 12 at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.
A Ceremonial Tribute will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche with the Reverend Jean Helmer officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois.
