    CCHS Football continued their schedule of tough conference opponents on Saturday night at home when they took on the Terriers. Terry is undefeated on the season and ranked as a top ten Montana six-man team. It was a perfect night for football as cooler temperatures and a lot of rain throughout the week made it finally feel like fall at Rowley Field.     The Carter County High School Bulldogs traveled to Bainville for a six-man football game last Saturday. Blue jumped out to an early lead and made a few good stops on defense. Caleb Fix scored three times in the first quarter on runs of 8, 43, and 34 yards. Bainville, though, was able to score two times themselves, and the score at the end of the first quarter was CCHS 20, Bainville 14.     CCHS netters headed to Wibaux for JV and varsity matched on Thursday. They traveled to Wibaux again on Saturday for a tournament. In the first JV set, the girls struggled, managing only nine points. The second set was much closer, 20-25. The third set was played to only 15 points. Wibaux won it as well, 9-15.     Bulldog volleyball traveled to Broadus to take on the Hawks last Friday. In the junior varsity match, CCHS dropped the first set 17-25. The set was close until Karli Collins of Broadus went on a scoring streak. In the second set, Blue was outmatched, losing 11-25. The third set was a close one, but the girls lost 12-15. In varsity action, CCHS held of Broadus 25-21 in the first set, and 25-22 in the second. The Bulldogs easily won the game in the third set, 25-14.   • Dogs show much improved defense

    Last Friday night at Rowely Field, CCHS football took on Savage. The Bulldogs played a strong game on the defensive side of the ball, holding Savage to 13 points in the first half. In the second quarter, freshman quarterback Jared Pardee threw a 22 yard touchdown pass to sophomore Max Larson. The Dawgs were down 13-6 at halftime.     CCHS volleyball opened their 2017 season by taking third place in a tournament at Fairview last Saturday. Ekalaka dropped the first match to Wibaux, losing the first 22-25, and the second, 21-25.     CCHS football got off to a rough start last Friday night when they played their first game of the season against the Richey/Lambert Fusion in Lambert. The Fusion took and early lead and scored often. The only bright spot of the game for CCHS was when junior back Caleb Fix scored on a 54 yard run, breaking multiple tackles.     Tanner McInerney earned the title of All-Around Cowboy at year's end in the Wyoming High School Rodeo Association. He finished fourth in tie-down calf roping, 3rd in team roping, and 6th in steer wrestling. He also earned the governor's award as the top Junior Cowboy in grades and points earned.     Anyone who has picked up a newspaper recently has likely observed that recent Carter County High School graduate Tanner Fix is fast. Last weekend he proved that by hurdling his way into the record books during the MHSA Class C State Track & Field Championship in Laurel.   • Ziettlow to run in third Boston Marathon

    Todd Ziettlow, a 1990 graduate of Carter County High School, will run in the Boston Marathon for a third time this year. Ziettlow first ran in 2012, finishing the grueling 26.2 miles with an official time of 3:26:32. In 2014, Ziettlow improved on his time and finished in 3:01:36, placing 2,620th overall among 35,671 competitors. This year’s marathon will take place on Monday, April 17.
