Last Friday night at home the CCHS Bulldogs overcame an eight point deficit at the end of the third quarter to force overtime and wound up with a four point victory over the Jordan Mustangs. The Dogs' defense was paramount in the win, as was their key rebounding late in the contest. Shayne Enos played huge for CCHS. The junior seemed to out-jump everybody in the gym in the fourth quarter and overtime, corralling several offense rebounds and getting putbacks. Five of his...

If you picked up a copy of the Billings Gazette or checked out 406mtsports.com in December, you likely read at least a portion of their Montana Greats Project. The project, taken on by sports reporter Jeff Welsch, gives an opinion of the greatest athlete from every Montana town. It gives a brief overview on each athlete and was released in a series of articles in alphabetical order. A conversation about the project with a couple of local sports enthusiasts led to the idea of...

Katy Negaard recently entered the Inaugural All In Breakaway Roping scheduled for December 9 - 11 in Las Vegas. The roping is, in many ways, the first of its kind and the CCHS graduate is excited to compete for $100,000 in guaranteed payout money. She is one of only two Montana residents that have entered. Negaard has always had a love for horses and rodeo. While rodeoing in high school, she won six all-around saddles and several belt buckles. After high school, Negaard had...
It had been a long road for CCHS Football since they last made the playoffs. That year was 2009; it also happened to be the last time the Bulldogs played 8-Man football. In 2009 a formidable team led by a salty group of seniors traveled to Hays-Lodgepole for their regular season finale and won. The following week they fell to Twin Bridges in the first round of the 8-Man playoffs. From 2010 to 2018 the Dogs had their fair share of struggles while playing 6-Man football. 2014...

The Bulldogs didn't play their best football last Saturday, but it was still good enough for them to get the win over Circle and secure a spot in the Montana 8-man playoffs. In the first quarter, the Dogs moved the ball okay on offense, despite several missed blocking assignments. Twice they fumbled the football while deep in Wildcat territory. They also were forced to punt on one possession. Circle, meanwhile, had their own problems on offense. Bulldog junior Ryan Rychner...
Last Friday CCHS Volleyball played Wibaux at home for senior night. The Bulldogs had a large lead early on in the first set but Wibaux stormed back. Blue was able to hold off a late Longhorn charge and took set one, 25-22. Wibaux pulled away and won the next three sets, 17-25, 13-25 and 10-25. Heather LaBree and Kenzie Tooke each had 8 kills to lead the team. Kari Kittelmann led the team in digs with 20 and Hannah LaBree led in assists with 11. On Saturday, Lady Blue traveled...
Carter County High outscored St. Labre 38-0 in the first half and went on to win 38-16 at home last Friday night in Ekalaka. The win improved the Bulldogs record to 4-1 in their conference and 5-2 overall. The two senior men who play for CCHS helped give the Dogs their large, early lead and then cheered on their younger teammates from the sideline for most of the second half. The game was senior night for the two, and they will likely remember it as not only did the Dogs get t...
