Though it ended in a strange way, the Lady Bulldogs' trip to the state basketball tournament in Missoula last week started how one would imagine. For the third time in as many seasons, the CCHS Lady Bulldogs are headed to the Montana State Class C Girls Basketball Tournament. Last year, the girls lost to eventual state champion Box Elder in the first round, defeated Charlo in a Friday loser-out contest, and lost on Saturday morning to the Scobey Spartans. Last weekend, the CCHS Lady Bulldogs defeated Melstone in the Southern C Championship game, 61-58. In the first game of the District 4C tourney, the Lady Bulldogs easily defeated the Lady Hawks by 33 points. The girls led 14-2 at the end of the first. Seven Dogs scored; 3 in double figures. The Annual Knights of Columbus District Free Throw contest was held February 23 at McGonigal Gym in Baker. Contestants shot twenty-five free throws. Scores from the shoot off will be sent on to the Montana State Knights of Columbus Council to be compared to shooters from around the state. State winners will then have their scores compared by the Supreme Knights of Columbus Council to USA and International shooters for more awards. Winners of the state award will be notified...
Eight Bulldog players scored on senior night as CCHS defeated Terry by 25 points last Friday in Ekalaka. On Valentine's Day 2020, the CCHS Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 11-6 on the season with a win over the Terry Terriers. The game seemed a fitting home finale for a senior class that has seen a great deal of success during their time at CCHS. The Dogs were up 37-6 at halftime and went on to win 63-8. The Carter County 4-H Shooting Stars hosted their seventh Annual Invitational Shoot on February 1st at the Fallon County Indoor Shooting Range and Fallon County Exhibit Hall. There were ninety-four 4-H youth from Carter, Custer, Fallon, Powder River, Rosebud/Treasure, Stillwater and Wibaux Counties that participated. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Custer/Hysham Rebels last Thursday at home. All ten Bulldogs that were suited up for the contest scored, but they didn't do all of the scoring for their team. In what was a strange start to the game, one of the Rebel players got confused and took an apparent "fast break" the wrong way after a sideline inbound play and scored two points for the wrong team. Last Thursday, the CCHS boys basketball team cruised to a thirty-one point victory over conference opponent Custer/Hysham. Blue went up early and had a 19-4 lead by the end of the first quarter.
