    The Carter County Varsity Volleyball squad convincingly won their homecoming match in three sets versus the Wibaux Longhorns last Saturday.     Kari Kittelmann’s seven aces and Kenzie Tooke's eight kills helped spark CCHS Bulldog volleyball to a 25-12, 25-3, 25-14 sweep over the Plevna Cougars in Ekalaka last Friday. Heidi LaBree had all ten of the team’s assists. As a team, Blue had 20 aces, 17 kills and 3 digs in the match.     CCHS marched down Rowley Field on the game's opening possession at home versus Broadus last Friday night, scoring on a 1-yard run from Jared Pardee. Ryan Rychner ran in the two-point conversion to give the Dawgs an 8-0 lead four minutes into the first quarter.     The CCHS Bulldogs volleyball squad started their season at home last Saturday versus the Broadus Hawks. Broadus won the match in three sets, 18-25, 24-26 and 22-25.     The Carter County Bulldogs played their first football game of the season in Fairview against the defending Montana 8-Man state champion Warriors last Friday night. On their opening possession, Blue marched down the field and scored on an option play, taking an early 6-0 lead as they failed to convert the two-point conversion.     Shortly after last week’s paper was printed, several changes were made to the Carter County Bulldogs’ fall sports schedule. The football schedule was revamped after St. Labre, Lodge Grass and Lame Deer opted out and will not play football this season due to COVID-19 concerns. With three teams out, the entire Eastern C Division has seen several changes in scheduling.     A team of eleven scrappy softball players from Ekalaka traveled to Camp Crook last Friday to take on eleven of Camp Crook's finest in what was a game for the ages. A few year's back, Crook put in a field on the outskirts of town, and the Hard Pan Ranch League was born. Since then, Crook regularly holds pickup games on Friday nights as ranching allows, and occasionally a few Ekalaka players travel over and play.     In the first game of the District 4C tourney, the Lady Bulldogs easily defeated the Lady Hawks by 33 points. The girls led 14-2 at the end of the first. Seven Dogs scored; 3 in double figures.     The Bulldogs opened their District 4C Tournament play against Northern Cheyenne. Blue started slow and had only a one point lead after the first quarter, but put up 21 points in the second to take a 12 point lead at halftime.     The Annual Knights of Columbus District Free Throw contest was held February 23 at McGonigal Gym in Baker. Contestants shot twenty-five free throws. Scores from the shoot off will be sent on to the Montana State Knights of Columbus Council to be compared to shooters from around the state.
