Carter County High School defeated the Wildcats in Circle last Thursday to secure their spot in the Montana 8-Man football playoffs. The Bulldogs went fifty-two yards on 9 plays in the game’s opening drive for their first score. The score came on a short quarterback keeper up the middle by Turner Tooke. Last week, CCHS Volleyball beat Wibaux in three straight sets to pick up a win. The girls won 26-24, 25-19 and 25-14. As a team, they had 12 aces, 35 kills, 49 digs and 27 assists. Ella Owen led in aces with 4, Kari Kittelmann had 14 digs, Heidi LaBree had 21 assists and Kenzie Tooke had 9 kills in addition to one block. The Montana High School Association board voted on Tuesday to delay the start of winter sports in hopes of flattening the curve during the continued COVID-19 pandemic. The MHSA executive board approved the motion of winter sports practices in basketball, swimming and wrestling to begin on December 7, with competitions delayed until the first week of January, 2021. The Carter County junior high football team ended a successful year on October 6 with one final practice in which they ran from the school parking lot to the top of "C Hill" to celebrate their enjoyable season and new coaching staff. It took a while for the Bulldogs (4-2) to get going last Friday night in Plentywood (2-4), but when they did they were once again tough to stop, eventually pulling away for a 58-20 victory. Senior Jared Pardee, currently out with a broken arm, mentioned from the sideline during the game that it was the first time all season the Dogs hadn’t scored on their first possession. Shortly after last week’s paper was printed, several changes were made to the Carter County Bulldogs’ fall sports schedule. The football schedule was revamped after St. Labre, Lodge Grass and Lame Deer opted out and will not play football this season due to COVID-19 concerns. With three teams out, the entire Eastern C Division has seen several changes in scheduling. A team of eleven scrappy softball players from Ekalaka traveled to Camp Crook last Friday to take on eleven of Camp Crook's finest in what was a game for the ages. A few year's back, Crook put in a field on the outskirts of town, and the Hard Pan Ranch League was born. Since then, Crook regularly holds pickup games on Friday nights as ranching allows, and occasionally a few Ekalaka players travel over and play.
