Each year the Knights of Columbus sponsors a free throw contest for girls and boys ages nine through fourteen. The contest proceeds in several steps. The first step is the council competition in which contestants shoot 15 free throws in a row. Depending on their age and sex, each contestant shoots with the appropriate ball from either 12 or 15 feet. The next step is a district contest where the council winners compete against shooters from other councils in the immediate area....

A team of seventh and eighth grade boys from Ekalaka held off Baker in the championship game to win the Baker Jam title in the eighth grade division on Sunday evening at Baker High School. The CCHS Lady Bulldogs fell one game short of reaching the consolation game at the 2022 State Class C Girls' Basketball Tournament in Great Falls last weekend and ended their year with a 21-7 record. Youth baseball, softball and t-ball sign-ups for Baker programs are currently underway. Programs will be starting soon for this spring season. As there is no baseball field currently in Ekalaka, all Carter County youth are invited to participate in the Baker programs. The CCHS Lady Bulldogs were on a roll Saturday when they defeated Wibaux at home by a 27 point margin. The offense was hitting on all cylinders as players hit shots from all over the floor.
