    As of Tuesday, November 3, Montana reports a cumulative total of 35,159 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 909 new cases since yesterday, 12,770 active cases, and 21,990 people considered recovered.     A whopping ninety-four percent of the 926 registered voters in Carter County cast ballots in the 2020 Federal General Election. That number is up substantially from a 78 percent voter turnout in 2018 and 84 percent in 2016. Precinct 3, which includes Hammond and Boyes, had the best percentage at 97.6.     Don’t wait any longer to get your ballot in the mail, local Election Administrator Pamela Castleberry is recommending.     A fire that started on Monday approximately sixteen miles south of Ekalaka on Highway 323 burned 3,177 acres. The fire was aided by high winds and jumped the highway, making it to Box Elder Creek. Four different producers had land burned. The fire was about six miles long and one mile wide.     On October 7, Carter County reported three confirmed active cases of COVID-19 and was no longer under the governor’s mask mandate. By October 10, the county reported four active cases and went back under the directive requiring masks.     Main Street in Ekalaka will be a great stop for young trick-or-treaters when Halloween arrives this year. The annual ‘Trick or Trunk’ event has moved from the parking lot of St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church to Main Street.
