The Ekalaka Bump-n-Run race was held August 10th this year. It was a nice day that brought 21 cars to the races. Limited, BGM, and Modified were the three classes that they were split up into. A large group of area producers attended the Carter County Commission meeting on Monday in Ekalaka to explain to the commissioners the current drought situation they are facing. The Annual Days of ‘85 Firemen’s Barbecue will be taking place at a different location this year. Anna Heggen LaBree In 1884, Anna Heggen LaBree's grandfather Edward Heggen filed his homestead three miles NE of Ekalaka. One hundred three Emil and Eula Lovec descendants congregated at Camp Needmore near Ekalaka over the 4th of July holiday weekend for the clans biannual reunion. Four generations were in attendance over the course of the 3 day gathering.
