    The Eagle will publish its Christmas issue on Friday, December 23rd. Letters to Santa and greetings from businesses and individuals will be included in that issue. The issue dated December 30th will correspond with the usual date between Christmas and the new year that the Ekalaka Eagle is not published.   • Annual Cemetery meeting nears

    As 2022 comes to a close, it is almost time for the Annual Beaver Lodge Cemetery Association Meeting. The meeting will take place at the Johnny and Sue Breding residence in Ekalaka on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 7 p.m. All lot owners are voting members of the association.     A community Christmas tree lighting took place in Ekalaka on Sunday. The now annual event was started a few years ago by a group of local community members. The tree was sourced locally and will stay on the main street triangle throughout the remainder of the holiday season.     Local Justin Stieg was recently named Super Stock Points Champion and Modified Points Champion at the 2022 Montana Bump-N-Run Awards Banquet held at the Double Barrel Saloon and Casino on November 5th in Fairview.     Nearly 81 percent of Carter County voters cast ballots in the 2022 Federal General Election on Tuesday. For comparison, 84 percent of voters cast ballots in the 2016 general election, 78 percent did in 2018 and 94 percent did in 2020.
