    The ambulance service in Ekalaka has very few EMTs. They range in age from age twenty-four to 70+, and most have other full time jobs. Counting illness and medical leave, there are currently only four people who can take calls. An average month has 1,440 hours which need to be covered by a two-person crew for the ambulance.     Tragedy struck on January 12 north of Ekalaka when a young female died in a rollover crash on Highway 7. The 23-year-old was driving north, near mile marker 12, when she lost control of the car she was driving and struck a bridge railing. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and overturned.
