Carter County is again moving into Stage I fire restrictions, beginning at midnight on Friday, June 25, 2021. The announcement comes after continued high temperatures and drought conditions have plagued the area. Montana State University recently announced its undergraduate honor rolls for spring semester 2021. There are two MSU honor roll lists: the President's List and the Dean's List. To be eligible for the lists, students must be enrolled in at least 12 college-level credits. On Tuesday Ekalaka reached 99 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It wasn’t quite record breaking as the record high for June 15 is 100 degrees, set in 1919. Sophia Ann Folsom Padden (December 17, 1846 – February 14, 1935), matriarch of the Montana Padden families, was remembered with a new headstone dedication on Saturday, June 5. Area veteran organizations will be holding a Memorial Day service Monday, May 31 at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. The traditional ceremony was not held last year in deference to COVID-19 restrictions. The service starts at 11 a.m. There will be a picnic and social at Carter County Events Center following the cemetery services.
