Carter County Museum's 9th Annual Dino Shindig was well attended this year as the event continues to be one of the more anticipated summer events in Ekalaka. This year, forty-three volunteers worked a total of 850 hours to make the Shindig possible. The Lyle Strobel Family Band is the entertainment this year for the Days of '85 Gospel Sing. They hail from the Absarokee/Columbus area. One member of the group is an old hand from Ekalaka in another life. Brook Anderson is the newest member of the band. Both Lyle and Irene Strobel grew up in a world of music. Area military veterans are invited to ride on the veterans float in the Days of ‘85 parade, Sunday, August 15. Those wanting to ride on the float are asked to gather at Carter County Museum at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Carter County Museum will be opening its warehouses to the public during the Days of ‘85. The warehouses, located just south of town on Hwy 323, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. on Saturday, August 14. Warehouse 1 includes over 80 percent of museum fossils and some historical artifacts that are not on display in the museum. Everything from detailed cleaning and stabilizing fossils to making custom protective cradles for the specimens occurs in this warehouse. On July 8th, the Eastern Montana Regenerative Agriculture (EMRA) group met in Brusett for a range tour. The group toured two ranches and looked at different pastures and how they are managed. They also learned about water systems, electric fence, biology of livestock, soil health and drought plans. A fun day of making gourd baskets and decorative gourd bird houses was held at the home of Sue Schneider over the weekend. Cory and Ashley Lovec of Park City, Montana announce the birth of their daughter, Olive Lois Lovec. Olive was born at 1:06 a.m. on June 16, 2021 at Billing Clinic in Billings, Montana. The 9th Annual Dino Shindig took place over the weekend in Ekalaka. Numbers of attendees for events were up across the board from last year. Two hundred fifty-seven people attended talks and museum activities on Saturday and the museum beat its fundraising goal in the online auction. Organizers and planners of Ekalaka Veteran’s Memorial Park thank TC Energy Foundation for donating $3,000 towards the project. TC Energy has been a generous contributor for community development in the area. The park will be located in Perso Park on Main Street. It will have a masonry reflecting wall and a patio with three benches facing the wall. The wall will include the seals of the branches of the military.
