Emswiler Pool is scheduled to open this Friday, June 16th at 1 p.m. Last year the town's swimming pool opened on June 27th. It did not open at all in 2021. Southeast Electric Cooperative has planned a power outage for customers on the Ekalaka substation for the night of Tuesday, June 20th, and into the following morning. Power may be off from approximately 10 p.m. on June 20th to 6 a.m. on June 21st. The planned outage is necessary to make repairs to the Ekalaka substation. Each year the Knights of Columbus sponsors a free throw contest for girls and boys ages 9 through 14. The contest proceeds in several steps. The first step is the council competition in which contestant shoots 15 free throws in a row. Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department and Ekalaka area EMTs are hosting a free will pancake supper in support of longtime fire chief and community supporter Mark Wright. The Puptown Wranglers had their monthly 4-H meeting on May 22, 2023 at the Senior Center. Thirty-two people were present. Emily did a demonstration on how to make homemade ice-cream. Around thirty residents attended the community meeting at Carter County Event Center on Monday evening.
