This June, local student athletes and twin sisters Hannah and Heather LaBree were given the opportunity to travel to Europe for basketball. The girls traveled to Germany, Italy and Austria as part of Student Athlete World, a youth organization that takes student athletes all over the globe. Over ninety people attended the Emil and Eula Lovec Family Reunion at Camp Needmore from July 4 through July 7 over the holiday weekend. National Weather Service data, which is recorded at 5 p.m. each day, shows that between 5 p.m. on Monday and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Ekalaka officially received 2.72 inches of moisture. Over seventy people attended Montana Shakespeare in the Parks' performance of "Henry IV, Part 1" on Monday evening in Ekalaka. The performance was sponsored by Sagebrush Service Club and enjoyed on the Dahl Memorial Healthcare lawn. Newly hired Ekalaka Public Schools music teacher Nate Louisignau recently announced that he is forming a local concert band. Any southeastern Montana resident who is a high school freshman or older is invited to participate. On May 11, Sierra Brown graduated from the nursing program in Sheridan, Wyoming. Brown's grandmother, retired LPN and local Donna Lewis, and her mother, retired RN-C, DON Wanda Brown, were honored to pin a third generation of nurses into the family. After a three-year stint as the superintendent at Ekalaka Public Schools, Daniel Schrock resigned last week. Southeast Electric Cooperative held an annual meeting last Friday. After several year's of holding the meeting at Carter County High School, employees decided to try something new this year and instead held the meeting at the truck shop behind the cooperative building. Last year, 231 people were served at the meeting. This year 264 total guests, including 160 members, were served.
