The Montana Department of Commerce recently allocated $1.3 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money split between Dahl Memorial Hospital and Silver Bow County's historic Hotel Finlen in Butte. Carter County Events Center was full last Saturday for a Wild Game Feast that was put on by First Baptist Church in Ekalaka. Those who attended enjoyed a selection of wild game dishes before hearing a presentation by Dr. R Larry Moyer of EvanTell, Inc. Another Ekalaka community blood drive ended successfully last week in Ekalaka. The drive produced thirty-one units of blood from 25 different donors. Several walk-ins and a few new donors contributed to the success. Garth Tooke won $25 as a door prize. The next Ekalaka community blood drive will be held on Wednesday, March 25 from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m. at Carter County Events Center in Ekalaka. The Carter County Museum received a $2,100 grant from the Montana History Foundation in 2019 to develop the curriculum Investigating Medicine Rock Art. The goal of the curriculum is to educate students and the public on the archaeological resources of Carter County and their stewardship, encourage scientific and historical inquiry and promote cultural understanding of indigenous tribes in the region. On Monday, Heather VanGelder from ONEOK presented an $80,000 check to Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association. The funds from the grant will be used to purchase twenty-five new Stryker hospital beds for the new facility that is currently under construction. A truck carrying forty-two thousand pounds of beer was on its way to Sidney when it wrecked just a few miles north of Ekalaka last Thursday. Plains Towing and Recovery out of Belle Fourche was on scene with a semi, skid-steer, two wreckers, a flatbed trailer and a recovery trailer to cleanup the wreckage.
