    When author Howard Seaborne found out he had a big fan in Ekalaka he autographed each of his six books in the "Divisible Man" series and shipped them off to Deb Stieg. Seaborne added something special in them too, a chapter written with Deb and her husband Terry as characters in a story that occurs in Ekalaka.     The Montana Department of Transportation recently announced a proposal to seal and cover about 53.7 miles of MT Highway 323, north of Alzada. The project begins at the Box Elder Creek Bridge at reference post 17.7 and extends south for 53.7 miles ending at the intersection with U.S. Highway 212 in Alzada, at reference post 71.0.     Ekalaka Public Schools students will be back in the classroom next Thursday for on-site instruction. Back to school packets were mailed to parents this week.     Carter County Museum's Shindig had a different look and feel this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.     Dahl Memorial Healthcare received an additional donation to be added to the association's budding Endowment fund. Representing the Ekalaka Lions Club, Mike Quade presented Dahl Memorial Healthcare Foundation with a check in the amount of $5,000. Much of the electrical and plumbing has been ran to the twenty-one long-term care rooms on the eastern end of the building, and duct work is currently being prepped for installation.     No official plan has yet been finalized for getting Ekalaka Public Schools students back in the classroom amid COVID-19. A reopening schools committee met earlier this week to discuss options.     There are zero cases of COVID-19 in Carter County. However, last Friday Fallon County saw its first case and Tuesday, Wibaux County its.     For a fourth consecutive year, Lynn Wallace of Wisconsin taught a basket weaving class in Ekalaka. Wallace held the class at her sister-in-law, Sue Schneider's home. Schneider said that the baskets take the better part of a day to make, and that the class, along with laughs, friendship and food, was enjoyed by those in attendance.
