Back in February, the Ekalaka Eagle reported that Belle Wendelburg was recognized by Senator Steve Daines as Montanan of the Week for her continued work in serving her community. Wendelburg retired from Dahl Memorial in July of 2016 after working there for more than 20 years. Heads up pet paraders, the twenty-three year old Carter County Pet Parade is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, at the bleacher area of the fairgrounds. Carter County Senior Citizens will sponsor a driver safety class called Smart Driver on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. This class is the updated version of the old “55 Alive” class developed by AARP. The driver safety class is designed as a review for senior citizens. There is a work book and a video to go along with it, and open discussion on different segments of the class. Another local is battling cancer. Kodi Tarno, daughter of Doug and Tracy Hendrickson of Alzada, was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer this year. Tarno is 26 years old, went to school in Alzada, and graduated from high school in Hulett, WY. Growing up she filled her summer days helping neighbors during docking and anything else that kept her busy and allowed her to enjoy the outdoors. Memorial Day services will begin at 11 AM on Monday, May 29, at Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Veterans performing the services should arrive at 10:30 AM.
