  • American Legion fish fry, July 4

    Local American Legion Post 60 will host a fish fry July 4 as a fundraiser for the post’s community projects. The event will be held at the Wagon Wheel Cafe in Ekalaka from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A free will donation will be asked for the meal which, in addition to the fish, will include baked beans and coleslaw. There will also be a 50/50 raffle for those feeling lucky on Independence Day.   • Bump-N-Run Sunday

    The Ekalaka Bump-N-Run is scheduled for Sunday, June 10 at Ekalaka Airport. This year’s races will offer a full concession stand and beer garden. Admission prices are $7 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for youngsters under the age of 5. Races will start at noon. No coolers are allowed. Ekalaka Bump-N-Run awarded three scholarships this year.   • Annual electric meeting sparks interest

    The Southeast Electric Cooperative’s 67th annual meeting will take place Friday, June 8 at Carter County High School in Ekalaka. Registration will begin at 4 p.m., a free roast beef dinner and entertainment will be offered at 5 p.m. and the business meeting will start at 6 p.m. Members will be updated on cooperative activities and have an opportunity to ask questions.   • Homemakers spring council meeting, June 6

    The Fallon/Carter Homemakers spring council meeting will be held Wednesday, June 6 at the Baker Senior Center. Registration and coffee are at 9:30 a.m. with programs to follow at 10 a.m. There will be a cost of $7 for lunch. The programs include using electric pressure cookers, essential oils for mind and body and social media safety. The scholarship fund will be enhanced with basket raffles.   • Bean bag benefit

    Dawg House Pub and Bruski Bacon will be hosting a benefit event for dear friends Matt and Ami Nies on Saturday, June 9. The community was heartbroken by the passing of their beautiful baby girl earlier this month. Please join them to raise funds to help offset medical expenses for this family.     The 2018 Summit Basketball Camp is offering to take your child’s skills to the next level. The camp is open to all grades, from kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. The camp is offering a multitude of training exercises designed to improve basketball skills.   • Memorial Day activities, May 28

    Memorial Day services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Veterans performing the services should arrive at 10:30 a.m. During the service, members of VFW Auxiliary will honor fallen soldiers by placing a white cross and a red, poppy covered wreath in the center of the cemetery. Members of the VFW Auxiliary will provide Buddy poppies and receive donations, with all the money going to help veterans.     St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church is sponsoring a pancake supper and silent auction on Friday, May 18. All proceeds from the event will benefit Matt and Ami Nies and their new baby girl, Braelie.     The National Weather Service (NWS) will be conducting another SKYWARN Spotter training session. This session will be held in Broadus on Friday, May 11.
